Cache is located on Boularderie Island in a very old cemetery.
Cape Breton Island became a British naval reserve until the 1780s, when the first civilian settlers received land grants. Now, memories of the French linger only in the names of places they used to frequent. Boularderie Island, on the south side of Great Bras d’Or, for example, is named for a French navy officer who, until his capture, was a nuisance to the British. Man of War Point on the island commemorates a French warship yard there that was burned to the ground by British torches.
Man of War Cemetery is located off Ross Ferry Road. We would suggest parking at the top of the road and walking down to the cemetery as the road can be soft and there is a wooden bridge close to the cemetery. Take time to look around at some of the old stones and memorials. There is a lot of history recorded on them.
Cache is in a camoflaged container and is filled with the usual trinkets, logbook and pen.
