Geocache Description:

This cache takes you on a 0.6 mile easy, loop trail around a bog. There is one condition, you must walk the trail while...blindfolded!

The Braille Trail (also known as the Bog Trail) at Northwest Park has been developed with the support of the Lions Club. The Lions Club is a community based volunteer organization that began in 1917 and now has 46,000 clubs in 193 countries.

This is a guided rope walk. You task is to complete a good portion of this walk while wearing a blindfold.

We ask that you please bring your own blindfold.

If you are with a group and one member wants to remain sighted, that is OK, but we encourage all to at least try it. For safety purposes, hold on to the rope at all times. Children, of course, should be well supervised.

Although it is feasible to complete this walk simply by closing your eyes, we request that you use a blindfold. A bandana works well. The blindfold provides the unique experience we are after, and we feel the temptation to open your eyes is too great without it.

During your walk, use your other senses to tell you about the environment. What do you hear? Smell? Do you notice a breeze or wind?

Important! Read all instructions before beginning!

Instructions:

1. Go to N 41 53 904 W 072 42 502
This is the start of the Braille Trail. Do not put on your blindfold yet. Proceed on this trail until you come to the coords in #2.

2. Go to N 41 53 825 W 072 42 440 This is where you need to put on your blindfold and proceed on the rope trail. For safety purposes, please hold on to the rope at all times, and stay close to it. There are no more breaks in the guided rope after this point, and the walk will bring you back to where you started.

3. When you get to the end of the rope, before you take your blindfold off, you need to FEEL for the clue to the final stage. Try to find it using only your hands. Once you think you have found it, you may take off your blindfold and look. You do not need to walk away from the rope or the final post to find it. If you cannot locate it, you may take off the blindfold and use your eyes to help. You are feeling for something small which provides the coords to the final cache.

4. You did it! You may now proceed to find the final cache.

We hope you enjoy this unique adventure!
