Did you know that our city of Bremerton had a cruiser name after it? USS Bremerton (CA-130), 1945-1974
Off Portland, Maine, 6 August 1945. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. USS Bremerton, a 13,600-ton Baltimore class heavy cruiser was built at Camden, New Jersey and commissioned in April 1945. She operated in the Atlantic for most of that year then steamed to the Pacific, where she was to spend the rest of her days. The cruiser deployed to the Far East in late 1945, remaining there until November 1946. Following training operations in the eastern Pacific, Bremerton was decommissioned at San Francisco, California, in April 1948. If you want to see additional pictures and read more about the U.S.S.
