To get to the cache, take the Delaware Town road off of Highway 14
(look for the Delaware Town sign) and then turn left onto the
Delaware Access Road. Any size vehicle should be able to drive and
park on the side of this level (but bumpy) dirt and gravel road.
You may want to check out the James River before or after you
find the cache, as it's a pretty nice fishing spot. However, PLEASE
take the "No Swimming" signs seriously, as a few people have
drowned in this part of the river.
It's about 300 feet from the road to the cache, but as they say,
"getting there is half the battle". Especially in the summertime,
you will be confronted with grass that is as tall as a grown man,
so bushwhacking may be necessary. There are no trails here, so step
carefully.
In warmer months, you will more than likely encounter ticks and
chiggers. I came across lone star ticks and American dog ticks.
Insect repellent is highly recommended. If you don't like getting
attacked by these little bugs, I recommend going after this cache
in the winter.
I wouldn't recommend wearing your favorite socks to this cache,
as there are lots of burrs in the tall grass.
It should be fairly easy to find the cache, so I'm not providing
a clue. The coords were averaged over 1000 times, with an accuracy
of about 11-15 feet.
The cache is a green decon container. Original contents are:
- Stash note
- Logbook w/pencil (bring a pen in case the lead on the pencil is
broken)
- Insect repellent towelette
- Party favor
Since this is a small container, please only trade small items.
When you are finished, please close the lid TIGHTLY and replace the
cache EXACTLY as you found it.
Happy caching!
