Melanda Ridge Traditional Cache
erik88l-r: As the cache was last found nearly two years ago, and there has been no action in response to my log of May 7th I've archived the cache listing to open up the area to a new one.

You can walk to this easily from the Melanda Beach Taverna at N34 39.281 E32 45.409, not to be confused with Kyrenia Beach Taverna which is also signposted just off the motorway but on a different road, both good to eat at
EXPERIENCED 4WD drivers will find this an interesting run. It can also be walked to from the Taverna quite easily. Walk or drive along the costal track to the west of the Taverna until you pass a house and then turn inland and follow your GPS. After you find the cache you can walk or drive down the steep hill back to the Taverna. If you use this route allow 2 hours to walk it.
Alternatively turn off the old Limassol-Paphos road onto a track at about N34 40.878 E32 44.375 and drive towards the cache as far as you can and then walk. This will be much quicker and easier especially if you have children with you. The further you drive along the track the more you will need a 4WD!
If you are walking and it’s hot TAKE WATER with you. As always in Cyprus be aware of snakes when looking under rocks.
The Cache location is ideal if you want to carry a picnic with you and sit on the rocks and look down on the coastal plain.
It's a medium sized sandwich type box with a yellow lid. Obvious if you are in the right location. I've put some small rocks in front of the box to hide it further. It contains the usual Geocaching instructions with a logbook and pencil. Also there are several small items up for grabs.
Use a stick to poke in the hollow before putting you hand in to make sure there are no unwelcome inhabitants of the niche. Don't worry you will easily see if there is.
If you’re hungry afterwards you can eat at the beach taverna for a basic meal, or maybe go along to the Kyrenia Beach Taverna and have the Steak Pie followed by a sticky toffee pudding and custard or ice cream. Pissouri Jetty, also nearby to the west, has several places to eat on the sea front.
