Geocache Description:

The "new" trail added to Cape Split now passes within a few meters of the GZ, so no need to bushwack. Below is the original owner's unchanged description. - Falach-fead

To get to this cache you should be aware that it could take anywhere from 4 to 6 hour to reach cache site from parking area as it is approximately a 15km round trip. You may want to bring a lunch. Winter survival gear is recommended if searching during cold seasons.

(Note: trail is a bit shorter now from the "new" parking lot and can be done in less than 4 hrs if you keep up a good pace. Bikes may be an option as well, recommend the south-side new trail as the better one for biking unless you enjoy mud and rougher terrain - Falach-fead)

Perhaps the most awesome display of the tides on our planet occurs at Cape Split, on the southern side of the entrance to Minas Basin (Cape Split may be reached by a pleasant two-hour walk along a popular hiking trail from the village of Scots Bay, which is a 30-minute drive north of Wolfville). Here at the time of the mid-point of an incoming tide, for a considerable distance the forest on the towering cliffs is filled with a hollow roar produced by the turbulence of the waters surging over the submarine ridges below. The currents exceed 8 knots (4m/s), and the flow in the deep, 5 km-wide channel on the north side of Cape Split equals the combined flow of all the streams and rivers of Earth (about 4 cubic kilometres per hour). Three hours later the spectacle pauses, and then begins flowing in the opposite direction. N45.20.006 W064 69.678 is the coords to get to the tip of Cape Split. The cache itself is a 11.4L ice cream container. Be aware that there are lots of roots along the trail so watch your step. Also, please where hunter orange between September 16 to March 31. This is a very popular walking trail so muggles are around.
