Bar M Canyon Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
A traditional cache located near some beautiful pools in a secluded canyon. Road is rocky and rough in places, but our Subaru did fine. Short walk from parking spot.
Cache is hidden in Bar M canyon near some pools in the rocky bottom of the streambed. Rocks here are collumnar basalt, so the pools look like they are paved with giant cobblestones. Pools are shallow and may dry up at certain times of the year, but when there is watrer they are full of tadpoles and interesting aquatic insects. A great place for kids to play and explore. When we hid the cache we found lots of small tadpoles, butterflies, flowers and a tiny garter snake. Cache initially contained a variety of small trade items-compasses, small flashlights, clip bracelets, toys, and two small dip nets for kids of any age to use in the pools. Also contained geocaching letter and logbook with pen and pencil. use Exit 320 from I-17, then take forest road 226 east from the highway approx 6 miles to Bar M canyon. road is a little rough, but well marked and signed.
