The only view of Alouette Lake along the Alouette Mountain trail.
Container is a tupperware type small sealed plastic food container (clear container, blue lid) with Geocache notice, logbook, pencil, some trade items, and a few of my cards in it with e-mail address and website on card. Cache hidden under the large log, on the outside, covered with leaves and small pieces of wood.
Start from the Mike Lake parking area in Golden Ears Provincial Park (N.49*16.364 W.122*32.262) Turn left at "Park Headquarters" road and keep going to Mike Lake. There's more parking approx 200 m beyond the trailhead).
You want the Alouette Mtn trail, but at this point it's called the Incline Trail. Go straight up 1.2 kms (elev gain 200 m). At the wide trail (Alouette Mtn trail) go right. Go for 5 kms. After the left hairpin turn, turn right up the short cut and rejoin the main trail approx 15 mins later. Go to the 10 km marker (but you'll have only walked 6 km, due to the shortcuts). Look for the view point on your right with the big log. You're at the site of the cache, 6 kms from and 450 m higher than the trailhead, at 650 m altitude.
You can then go to Alouette Mtn. Pls note it's total 11 kms each way (22 kms return), and the trail gets narrow, muddy, rooty and steeper. Wear good hiking boots, and bring food and water. BEWARE, adult bear sighted 3-4 kms past cache site on May 21. It kept its distance and went the other way.
