Located in Onondaga Lake Park on the south eastern shore this cache serves two purposes. One to continue my UTM challenge series and secondly to give a history of the once well used lake and resorts that lined its shores.
History: Onondaga Lake Park has a rich history spanning from terrific to tragic. Once considered as an upper class resort area brought to fame by the salt production and later ruined by a few unmentioned companied. Today the county owns the land and has made a beautiful park to enjoy. I have pictures of each resort in the area as well as a map of the area back in time. There is nothing left of the resorts that I can find, but some evidence is present here and there. There are a few railroad ties lying around out of place and the descriptions in books of the wooded areas fit in place. The Long Branch Park was once used as a fair center and playground for all there were four hotels in the area: Maple Bay Lakeside, Rockaway Beach Hotel, Manhattan Beach Hotel, Pleasant Beach Hotel, and Lake View Hotel. Not to mention the old Syracuse Yacht club and various other piers and interesting places. This cache will be using Maple Bay Hotel, Manhattan Beach Hotel and Pleasant Beach Hotel’s approximate location as waypoint for the multi-cache. The Rockaway Beach Hotel cords are (UTM) 18T 0398900 4773100 I will not be using this location. For more information please see Donald Thompson’s “The Golden Age of Onondaga Lake Resorts” in you library or bookstore.
Cache: Each leg of the multi are contained in a plastic match container. There is a map in each one that is in UTM coordinate system. On the map is the point your at and the next point you are going to, you will have to use the map to find your coordinate for the next waypoint. You will do this till the last one where you will find a standard ammo container filled with goodies such as: Maps, trinkets, a camera and some other small things.
Trust me these UTM challenges are not difficult at all and the history here is very interesting. I have gotten much feed back that people enjoyed these caches, so I hope you enjoy as well!

Warnings:
1.) Part of this multi-cache can be buggy so be prepared!
2.) Be warned… there is lots of poison ivy in the woods especially here (I have included in this cache a few alcohol pads, if you come into contact please wash your hands with water ASAP and then wipe them down with the wipes, keep an eye on the kids and animals too)
3.) You may want a copy of the map to put the next waypoint on the GPS varies in the woods.
