Geocache Description:

The cache is placed alongside a little stream about 120 meters form the low water bridge on the way to the Alpine Heath hotel, with the lovely Drakensberg as the backdrop!

Update 20/09/05: Replaced the cache with a small camo cache. It contains a logsheet, pencil, pencil shapner and a SA geocoin. I have updated the coordinates for the cache as well. This cache was placed by us when we attended the CampJeep weekend in the Central Drakenberg. The following words was taken from one of the map information booklets about the Drakensberg--- "The magnificent outline of cliffs and peaks of the 1600km range inspired the Zulus to describe the escarpment as "The Barrier of Spears". To the Voortrekker pioneers it became know as the "Dragon Mountains" since myths of fire breathing monsters high up in these impenetrable crags created a mystique that has become so much a part of the Drakensberg legend" To me this is a true description of the magnificence of this world heritage site! There are so many things to do and see--
- visit the Bushman art-it can be found in more that 300 caves and shelters.
- visit the historical Boer war sites in and around the area.
- Countless walking trails can be done, or you can just relax at one of the many hotels, chalets and camping grounds. (We stayed the weekend at the Royal Natal Park in the Mahai camp) More Drakensberg information and Maps
Included in the cache is a logbook, Bison MicroCache container, Wooden Jo-Jo (All the way from SupaQuick in Windhoek, Namibia), Jeep Keyholder, Plastic toy 4x4, www.geocacher.co.za woodnickle and a USA 2004 Geocoin (Name:CampJeep 2005) The container is a 2L “addis” inside a Hessian bag. We have covered it with some rocks to blend in with the surroundings.
