Het gaat hier niet om de kapel, maar wel om de ‘bron’ naast de kapel. Wel opletten dat ge er niet in valt!
Het is niet met absolute zekerheid bewezen, maar deze ‘bron’ zou de eigenlijke bron van Bornem moeten geweest zijn. De ‘bron’ behoorde in die tijd toe aan de familie Lupo, de eigenaars van de Lupo Kouter.
Het verhaal gaat de ronde dat deze bron een geneeskrachtige werking zou hebben op allerlei oogziekten. In vroegere tijden zou een bijna blinde persoon met het bronwater zijn ogen uitgewassen hebben waarna hij terug kon zien!
Dankzij deze bron heeft deze streek zijn naam gekregen. Bornem, heem aan de bron. Ook de familienaam Lupo werd vereeuwigd. De straat die er thans langsloopt heet Luipegem, heem van Lupo.

Beurmse Snake: Lupo's well
(Beurm is the local dialect for Bornem)
You can find the well near the chapel. This was the actual well of Bornem, situated on the property of the family Lupo. Hence the name of the nearby street, Luipegem (= home of Lupo).
The local people claim that the well is known for its healing powers of eye-diseases, even blindness. But that was many centuries ago, so don't drink of its water now!
This well gave this region also a name, Bornem (= home of the well)
!! 29/9/08 New: The old plastic micro is now replaced with an alu-container in a camo-jacket. Please close both very carefully before putting it back!
