1. Take I-40 to the Tijeras Exit. After exiting,
head STRAIGHT after the stop light onto SR 337 South.
2. Take SR 337 South for some time until it T's up at SR 55 and
turn Right heading West. (SR 55 goes West for some time and then
ends up heading South.)
3. Follow SR 55 thru the towns of Tajique, Torreon and into the
town of Manzano and look for the "RED CANYON CAMPGROUND and MANZANO
STATE PARK" turnoff on the Right side of the road.
4. Follow this paved road to the State Park entrance but don't
go straight to the State Park. Turn RIGHT onto the paved road.
(Look for the red and white cell tower!! The road will take you
right by it!!) Once the road turns into a dirt road, you will be in
the Cibola National Forest. This dirt road is called: Forest Road
422.
5. Follow Forest Road 422 to the Red Canyon Campground area.
6. GO PAST the Red Canyon area heading South for several miles.
Be looking for a trail head sign on the Right side of the road
called "Kayser Mill Canyon -->" This is where you will want to
park and start your hike.
Kayser Mill Trail #80 will take you 2 MI to the top of the
crest. After that, you will have to hike the Crest Trail #170 going
South for about 1 MI until you reach the summit!
Alternate Trail: Pine
Shadows Trail #170A is a 5.5 mile hike and has plenty of parking.
Keep driving South on Forest Road 422 to the Pine Shadows Picnic
Area. There you will find the trailhead and a bonus cache just up
the trail called: "Trails End Almost" (GCEFD3) by

Manzano Mountains will also give you access. (John F. Kennedy
Campground area to Trigo canyon #185 & Salas Trail #184 and/or
Forest Access Road #33 off HWY-47 to Monte Largo canyon) but these
