The name for this cache came from the following story. Several years ago this trail was being designed in pieces by at least 4 different people over a period of a couple of years. This switchback was marked to have the chaparral cut several times. Several cuts were made. The steepness of the hillside required lots more room to put the trail in and the cut was expanded. The result was that the cut vegetation, viewed from the valley, made the area look like a war zone. The conflict and bombing in Bosnia was in the news at the time and one of the Rangers referred to the switchback as the Bosnia Switchback. The name stuck during the construction of the trail. It is nicely re-vegetated now. I always thought it would be a nice place for a bench or picnic table, in the shade, as a rest stop on the climb up the trail so I placed a cache there in June of 2003. That cache recently disappeared, perhaps because the tree canopy reduced the amount of foliage of the Elderberry Tree where the cache was hung and it became too obvious. The original cache has been permanently archived and this new cache has been placed along the same trail.
The switchback no longer looks like a war zone, hence the name. To confound potential cache robbers who might use the website to find and steal caches I have made this a two-step multi-cache that depends on the same decoding information of GCF63D, the final destination of which is further up the trail. You must decode and decipher the following:
