Tweet and Re-Tweet Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DE_Cryptoman: It is with great regret that I am archiving this venerable cache. It had been around for quite a while but unfortunately, progress is going to take it's toll. This cache is in the patch of a massive drainage path that will make access to this area unsafe if not totally inaccessible. I expect that the cache location will be bulldozed flat in the not too distant future.

Thank you DrHogg for putting this cache out and allowing me to adopt it those many years ago.

As a side note, the snake was long gone when I got here today.

Geocache Description:

6/17/2018 - Cache has been re-attached and should be quite visible. Outside is the size of a small birdhouse. Inside container is the size of a peanut butter jar. Beware! There is poison ivy nearby. The camo has been dusted for ants so you might want to wash your hands after handling but I suspect weather will take care of that issue within a few months.

This cache is dedicated to a couple of geocaching legends. Back in the 70s there was a geocaching couple named Denny and Sandy who geocached under the name The Geo-A-Go-Gos because they were inveterate cachers and dancing fools. They were a part of everything that was geocaching. They had more finds than practically anybody, and so many hides that you couldn't be a geocacher for very long without finding one of their caches. Any time you found a really creative hide you'd think to yourself "This must be a Denny and Sandy cache," or "This guy must have learned this technique from Denny and Sandy." Not only that, they were the center of the local geocaching social scene, with picnics in the park, soirees at their "cottage" by the lake, dinner parties at their palatial home. If you threw a party, they were sure to be there. You name it, they were part of it.

Then one day they just disappeared.

It was like they had vanished off the face of the earth. Some suspected the worst, but there were curious hints that they were still alive and well somewhere. There were occasional garbled messages on the answering machines of local cachers. Now and then there was a familiar sounding, but anonymous, post on a geocaching message board. Some people reported finding barely readable scribbled messages in cache log books. But no one ever actually saw them. They left a big hole in the local geocaching scene that was never completely filled.

Of course there were rumors about what had happened. Some say they moved to New York City where Sandy sings and dances on Broadway and Denny plays guitar in a jazz club on the lower East Side. Others say they were shot down and captured by the Sandanistas while fighting communism in Central America. Still others say that they perished while trying to set up a 1000 cache power-trail in Antarctica. As for me, I think they are off somewhere fighting for Truth, Justice, and the American Way, and that one day they will dance back into our lives with a chest full of medals and a heroic tale to tell.

This cache is dedicated to you, Denny and Sandy, wherever you are.

The cache is located near the first stage of an old Denny and Sandy multi-cache called "Tweet, Tweet, Little Pete" or something like that. It is a container that is in keeping with that former cache. It has been upgraded on 02/09/2014 and now has room for trackables but there is no pen in the cache. New replacement log with Rite-in-the-Rain paper.

Good luck, Denny and Sandy, and may the geo-force be with you.
