Canoe Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

lrb&mlb: This was the first cache we ever hid, along an area we often walked. When we checked on it tonight we found the lid missing and the cache and contents saturated. When we first hid this cache, there was an interesting half of a canoe nearby, but that has been missing for some time. The game trails were obvious, but now the area has changed, with many more downed trees and other natural obstacles. Development has impaired parking. So, we are going to archive it.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located near a river gravel bar. It can be accessed from game trails leading from the greenbelt trail on the north side of the river. You won’t need a canoe to find this cache, although access from a canoe going down river would be easy.

There are two greenbelt trail accesses relatively close to the cache. The first is a direct access with limited parking available at N61 17.952, W149 30.110. This trail will start heading up river. About 150 ft down this trail, take the first right and head down river. The second is behind the guard rail at N61 17.981, W149 30.481. Go straight down through the trees for about 200 feet behind the guard rail to access the greenbelt trail.

If you try to access this cache in a straight line from the greenbelt trail to the river, you will be going through a lot of brush and possibly water. It is best to go up or down river and then find a game trail to get close to the river and follow it to the cache.

Once you get close to the cache it should be quite easy to locate.
