Geocache Description:

An easy walk through beautiful mixed woodland in the depths of the New Forest.

This is a lovely part of the forest, accessible from a number of roads and car parks. The car park at Anderwood (SU 24918 05719 or N50.51.023 W001.38.845) is probably the best starting point, giving a walk of just over 1km each way if you go straight there and back, although it is easy to arrange a round trip which makes it more interesting. The site can also be accessed from the nearby Ornamental Drive.

The cache is in an area of impressive beech trees. The canopy is not usually so dense as to block the GPS signal, but it can be tricky at some times of the year. The bracken can grow above head-height in the summer, but there should be clear paths through it which can be used to get to the site (so there is no need to push your way through dense patches of vegetation).
