Geocache Description:

The cache is a hike of about a half mile on level ground.

This cache replaces the original “Bridging Reality” cache that has been out there for about a year and a half. It has been hit by “muggles” a few times and this last time totally destroyed. I guess I thought it is time to replace it.

For many years the Illinois Central Railroad operated a line through Winnebago on to Pecatonica, Freeport and on west. Where the track once laid is now the site of the Pecatonica Prairie Path used for biking, hiking and now, a Geocache or two.

The Prairie Path has a special significance to me & my children. This was one of the places we would go to get away from the world. If you venture down the nearby tractor path you will come to the spot along the creek that my youngest son pitched his tent when he ran away from home. But he "always" came back???

You should park on Swift Street across from the old granary. You will be right at the entrance to the Prairie Path. Enjoy the walk. Notice the white flowers in the picture. They are the blooms on all the blackberries growing wild on the path. It wont be long and some good eating for the hikers! You should have no trouble finding the cache. It’s within three feet of the path and requires practically no bushwacking.

I have stocked the cache with about a dozen neat (I think) items including a “2004 Geocoin” that has not been activated for the FTF.
