Geocache Description:

This cache is out of this world.

0.67409 degrees N 23.47298 degrees E

The coordinates above refer to the lunar location of the transmission you have just heard. On 21/7/1969 two astronauts landed at this position on a nearby satellite. The first humans to experience “magnificent desolation”. The choice of words from the second astronaut to step out of Eagle.

This cache is in response to an idea Lambchops and I discussed at Easter. We wondered how far geocaching might go. Well this lunacache certainly gets some distance up. The idea is that the cache co-ordinates are Lunar 0.67409 degrees N 23.47298 degrees E, although for some reason gc.com code does not allow this.

The cache is a multicache. Of course!! My first thought was to place the local GZ at Apollo Stadium, however an inspection revealed that the new housing development has a distinct dearth of suitable cache locations. Widening the search found a beaut spot.

Now how to get from up there to down here. Easy.

Listen to the file at (visit link). It was not just Velcro® and Teflon® that was spawned by the space race.

The wav file contains all the co-ordinate information you need. This is my contribution to mad mysterious May. NB: The co-ordinates are in decimal degrees the same format as the position at the top of these notes.

At this most appropriate geo-location you will find a suitably lunatic cache container. I found the core of this contraption in the ute at work. I think it was a lunch box, the tadpoles reckon that it is a rocket. The cache container is henceforth called The Unimind. Read on.

The cache contents are designed to be suitably lunatic as well. The cache is to be the last earthly resting place of LGM’s. This is the Unimind. Ask any five year old that knows Toy Story.

For a swap you will need to plan a little and bring a Little Green Man. Yoda is especially welcome. You are allowed to take away nothing but money and perhaps a travel bug. When started the cache contained funds equivalent to that spent to put one of these two men on the moon.

Once you have found the cache you also need to provide some more information in your log. Do you remember the actual day of the event? What were you doing? Where we you? For cachers less than 36 years old? No worries tell us what your parents were doing.

Freddo was in grade 7 at school. The school building is now the Wadalata Centre at Port Augusta. We didn’t get much schoolwork done that day. Not that you could really see much of the lunar activities on that very snowy tellie vision. Of course Freddo was the nerd that knew all the details of what was happening.

The astronauts moonwalked for nearly three hours. They brought home 22kg of rock from Mare Tranquillitatis and heaps of wonderful pictures.

By the way you can have some more lunatic fun if you visit the following (link)
