Aloft's Circle 30 Traditional Cache
Chuck Walla: Hello mdthquist,

Just a little ESE of America, not too far from Moon about 5 miles north of Tom seemed to be the perfect spot for Aloft’s Circle 30. There was a more perfect spot just north of America, exactly 50 miles from where Aloft23 calls home, but it just had no place that was appropriate. When coming to this very unusual place, be sure to allow at least 10 minutes to tour America.
Aloft23 is a cacher from Mount Pleasant that I introduced to caching in May 2004 and he has since gone nuts. He is a cache animal that found 800 in his first year of hunting. Aloft is obsessed with the 50 mile circle around his home coordinates and aggressively grabs every cache that shows up in the circle. His computer is programmed to check for new caches every five minutes… just like Outlook checks for e-mail. Buffalo Scout and friends mdthquist, Sportracker, Wingspann, SquirrelGPS, mtquaks and CloudBuster conspired to place and find privately before posting publicly on geocaching.com 4 caches around Aloft’s mystical 50 mile circle. We wanted them to be as far apart as possible so we put them at bearings (from Aloft’s home) of 90, 180, 270, and 360 degrees. They were all approved at the same time and hit the airwaves simultaneously. The original 4 caches on Aloft’s Circle are:
GCNMFZ Hangin Around A (is 000 degrees on Aloft’s Circle)
GCNMB8 Almost Hangin Around 2 (is 90 degrees on Aloft’s Circle)
GCNMBK Hangin Around 3 (is 180 degrees on Aloft’s Circle)
GCNMG9 Hangin Around Loft (is 270 degrees on Aloft’s Circle)
And now with the help of the above conspirators, we are placing eight more caches on the circle!! These are placed at thirty degree intervals around the circle and as close to 50 miles away as possible. This is quite a challenge because normally you find a real neat spot for a cache, place it and shoot the coordinates. With this scheme we have coordinates…go to that place and try to find a good spot for a cache. This was a lot of fun for those of us that set this up for the cache animal to go round and round chasing his tail around Aloft’s Circle. All eight of these were approved and hit the web on the same day, in the same hour and we are sure the alarms on Aloft’s computer were going haywire. So now, Aloft’s Circle has 12 caches on it and Aloft will probably be the only one to capture them all…cause he is the Cache Animal and the rest of us are just normal cachers enjoying his antics.
