Geocache Description:

Easy cache and go on an overlooked important monument

Labor Day weekend brought one of the deadliest hurricanes to the Florida Keys. Over 700 people died. One of the lowest barometer readings ever recorded was measured during this hurricane. Henry Flager was building the Florida East Coast Railroad otherwise known as the "Overseas Highway" which you drive on to get to Key West. Many workers on the construction of the railroad were veterns and got caught in the storm. A rescue train was sent but it was too late and was overturned (except the train's engine "old 447")near the cache site by the storm-driven tidal surge.

Beware of mugglers on the monument itself.
