Geocache Description:

An awesome river valley view from atop a hill popular with the hanggliders.

This cache will be a bit of a challenge for those who choose to search for it. Best parking is along OLD US 35 at N 39 13.068 W 82 50.652 then follow the gravel road up the hill from there. Be sure to *SAFELY* cross the railroad tracks!!! You'll be only 1/2 mile from the cache at this point. Mere mortals will follow the blue blazes (Discovery Trail System) the 1.5 miles back to the hide. Persons, such as the Harry Meister, will charge the 1/2 mile straight to the cache. The hard part is that the cache is about 500 feet higher in elevation than the starting point. You did want some exercise, right? :)

On your way to/from, be sure to stop off at the hangglider launch point at N 39 13.206 W 82 50.470 and enjoy the view of the Scioto River Valley. To your left (east) Salt Creek meets the Scioto. It is in this area that there was a large indian settlement. Many of this small hills in this valley are burial mounds. A quarry can be seen to the right (west) as well as Caldwell Cemetery, along Old US 35.

Cache is 7.62mm Ammo Box (the smaller size) - with a selection of goodies for kids of all ages.

The road up to & beyond the cache is part of a number of different trail systems, including the American Discovery Trail and the North Country trail. This trail is marked by blue blazes on the trees. You can follow the trail, or take the challenge - straight up the side!
