Geocache Description:

The ferry to Rathlin Island leaves Ballycastle, Co. Antrim, for the 45 minute journey, four times daily from 1 June – end of September. It is essential to book the ferry in advance. Telephone 028 2076 9299. You don't have to do the round trip in one day. You can stay at the guest house, Hostel, camping barn or even pitch a tent.

The cache takes you on a 4½ mile walk/cycle ride to the RSPB bird view point. (There is a tour bus for the unfit). Don't forget you have the same distance to walk/cycle back. The road is surfaced for most of the journey, but you should were sensible shoes. There are two steep hills at the start of the walk. Then a few more, less steep, along the way.

From the RSPB view point you will be able to see puffins, kittiwakes, guillemots and other birds during the summer months. Views of the North Antrim coastline, Donegal, Isle of Islay and Mull of Kintyre can bee seen on a clear day.

The Cache
The cache is in a 6”x 8” tab lock plastic box. When placed it contained various swap items including some souvenirs of Rathlin Island . We have left a disposable camera so you can take a snap of yourself at the cache. No rude one's please!
