Geocache Description:

Beaver River, Beaver Bay MN. 55806

Just North of the town Beaver River about 1/3 mile past mile marker 51. Park on the SW lot off of Hwy 61. It is a moderate incline down to the river with several trail options, or lots of big rocks in the river that you can jump to and climb on.

This is my favorite spot on the North Shore, as the river is beautiful, but at the mouth of the river is Beaver Bay Beach. Walk down the trail from the Northwest side of the bridge, and you will most likely have the entire place to yourself. Great pic-nic area and place to take a nap in the sun. It is also an exceptional Superior Agate beach, with Silver Beaver Rhyolite, Jasper and occasionally Thomsonite. This is a private beach, but open to the public as the sign says "Private Property....Enjoy it...Please leave it clean."

This parking spot is also the trail head for the Gitchi-Gami State bike trail (visit link) that leads past Slpit Rock Lighthouse and terminates about 10 miles south at Split Rock River. You can find parking at both ends. Also, be sure to pop into the Agate Shop near the parking area, as there are alot of neat things to see.
