Located at a beautiful spot along the beach route to Caines Head State Recreation Area, this cache can be accessed by foot at any tide level, or approached handily by boat. Hiking on beyond, however, requires reference to a tide book.
The parking lot at the trailhead at Lowell Point is now a fee area.
The awesome views of Resurrection Bay, the opportunities to spot marine mammals and many kinds of bird life, surf fishing for salmon in season, and the incredible array of world-class skipping stones spread on the beach near the cache all make this hike well worth the effort.
Campers are occasionally settled in near the hiding spot. Divert them with a rock-skipping contest, and you're golden!
The cache is a thin-style ammo can containing a log, trade items, and a disposable camera. Take a picture if you like when you log in; when the film is used up we will replace the camera and post the photos. A First Finder's certificate is also included for the lucky cacher with the right timing.
