This is one for those of you who have always wanted to do a water cache, but don't have a boat.
*** NOTE: Dock has been rebuilt (looks great!) but you may want to call ahead on very windy days and make sure there is water! ****
The cache is a small waterproof box, located a ways up Oakum Creek in Munden Park. It may be above or below the waterline, depending on the wind-driven tide.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset, and if you have a canoe or kayak it is free to launch (year-round). If you don't have your own watercraft, you can easily rent a canoe at the park office between 9am and 5pm for $6 per hour, April through October. You can reach the cache and return within an hour (if you are quick), but it is a beautiful place to bring a book or fishing pole and spend time. The water is peaceful, the critters plentiful and there were wild orchids in bloom when I placed the cache. However, BEWARE OF SNAKES!!
Please replace the rope so it is coiled under the box...it is a little too visible otherwise.
NOTE: I highly recommend using a boat for this cache unless you are up for a long wade/swim as the nearby shore is all private property.
