This is
a mystery multi cache with a twist. Doing a little math will
get you the coordinates to two ammo boxes, one hidden in
Red Sands and one hidden in Black Sands. So as
not to influence which you might visit first, we have
cleverly hidden each cache equidistant from the starting
point and each is nearly that same distance from the other.
You'll hike this 3000 foot triangle along mostly winding
trails where your shoes will get black & red from the
sands (see the images). You will encounter some ground cover
so dress accordingly. There may be hunters during the season
so wear orange and should you hear an ATV coming your way,
heads up!
At the starting coordinates where
there is parking, find a large sewer top with numbers cast in iron.
Here's the simple math to get you on your way...
On the WEST side of the
sewer top, find two numbers with a dash between them in a frame.
Here's one set of coordinates:
N 41º 10.______ (1221 minus the first number)
W 80º 33.______ (909 minus the second number)
On the NORTH side of the
sewer top, find a patent number. Add each individual digit in that
seven digit number to arrive at a sum. Here's the other set of
coordinates:
N 41º 10.______ (293 minus the sum)
W 80º 33.______ (873 plus the sum)
We don't reveal which coordinates
take you to RED SANDS nor which take you to BLACK
SANDS and we will delete any log that reveals which is which so
please don't tell 
. So, what color sand will you get
on your shoes first?
This is something that has become
a Team Rattlebars Trademark. It's a PING PONG cache and here's the
game: In one or the other of these two caches will be a single ping
pong ball. Choose which of the two caches you will visit first to
see if that's the one where you will find the ball. It will be in
one or the other, but nobody knows!
Now the rules:
If you FIRST visit the cache THAT CONTAINS the ping pong
ball, log your find as FOUND BALL FIRST in the log book in
that cache (it's how we keep score) then take the ping pong ball
from this cache and deposit it in the OTHER cache.
PING!
If you FIRST visit the cache
WITHOUT the ping pong ball, you MUST visit the OTHER
cache, retrieve the ping pong ball and return it to this cache!
Do not log that you found the ball first (you didn't score)
but please do log your visit. PONG!
From time to time, team Rattlebars
will visit. We will swap the ball and log the winner plus put a
special prize in the winning cache. Take or leave any objects you
wish like a regular cache, but please don't take the ping pong ball
out of this game. Please don't describe which coordinates take you
where and above all, don't leave ANOTHER ping pong ball (YIKES)!
