Geocache Description:

This lies on what I think was, I have now found out, the site of an old canal, but is now just a grassed area between houses and a cemetery. You do not need to go into the cemetery to find the cache.

The area is predominantly grass, but you will need to make a small climb to reach the cache location. The cache is a small plastic box, about 13 x 8 x 3 cm.
It's only a short distance from J10 of the M6, so could be an ideal stop-off for those on a journey through the area.

Originally I'd thought this must have been the site of old railway, probably leading down towards the canal basin nearby. Thanks to The Boat People I now know it was actually part of the canal. They sent me this:

Last night we thought and talked about childhood days in this area and as we said in our log your railway line was the Bentley Canal, which ran from Wednesfield through to Walsall. There was also an opencast coal mine close by to what is now Western Ave.
The railway line ran through Willenhall/Bentley on its way to Reedswood Power Station we think (being boat dwellers we are better at canals than railways.) The disused railway crosses Clarkes Lane at the back of the fire station and continues through the housing estates running parallel with Poplar Ave until it reaches Bentley Lane, but not sure of its route from there.

Thanks to them, and to all those who have enjoyed the cache so far!
