DO NOT HUNT FOR THIS CACHE AT NIGHT!
Dinosaur Image.
While on one of my exploratory missions to locate new and interesting cache sites within the latest addition to the Illahee Preserve, I noticed that there was an interesting set of coordinates in those woods.
Anyone want to go with me and find N47° 36.666' x W122° 36.666'? Alternatively, you can try hunting for this location yourself. If you do, please take a picture of your GPS to prove you were there. There is a special prize waiting for the first person to do this.
Your journey will be into an area known by the locals as "The Lost Continent". This name reflects the dense forest and undergrowth that you will traverse. There are no trails and I suggest making as little of an inpact on the environment as possible. At the bottom of this canyon you will find many interesting sites along the way, to include a large variety of flora and fauna, plus a few large "Old Growth" trees.
You may enter this forest from several different directions. The choice you make will ultimately determine the difficulty of your journey. The most difficult route is reflected in the cache ratings. In any case, wear appropriate clothing and take the proper gear, to include high-top hiking boots, long shirt & pants, a jacket and a sturdy walking stick.
Be prepared for scrapes, bumps, bruises, nettles, thorns and many other typical injuries that Mother Nature can inflict upon you. So, I suggest you take along a First Aid Kit and perhaps a beverage to quench your thirst, you'll probably need them. As best as you can, please leave no evidence of your journey into this forested area.
The container you seek is an Ammunition Can filled with a lot of goodies for all ages. If you find a cluster of dinosaur eggs, please do not disturb them, unless you want to be todays dinner and tomorrows dino-droppings.
I had a chance to speak to one of the locals and he advised me that he has seen and heard coyotes, cats and bears in these woods. Therefore, it should be obvious that hunting for this cache at night is totally out of the question.
If you have been to other caches within the Illahee Preserve and you think they have been rough and/or tough, then "you ain't seen nothin' yet!"
Because of the neighbors who live along Sunset Road, located on the Eastside of the Illahee Preserve forest, I do not recommend parking anywhere along that road. If at all possible, make your assault on the three nearby geocaches from the Western side of the forest. The best place to park is in a designated parking lot located at the corner of Riddell Road and Thompson Drive!
Begin your assault by first visiting the "Driveby & Caching" geocache. Once hopefully found, proceed the best way you can, somewhere along the embankment and over it at a place of least resistance. You will probably have to crash through a lot of brush and cross a stream. The flow of the stream will depend on the season. So, bring wading boots, a walking stick and a beverage of your choice.!
One last final bits of advice, Bring A Best Friend &
Please Do Not Go into this forested area by yourself!
