Hi,
I'm Bobbie Wilson from the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department.
While discovering Geocaching at an MRPA convention in Traverse City, through a presentation by the Michigan Geocaching Organization, we
decided that it would be great to start geocaching in our own community.
With an abundance of help from MIGO Park Outreach Coordinators, who are also
Roseville residents,
Gary & Donna (Team CoyChev), we would like to
introduce our new Geocaching program to our residents and the geocaching
community. My husband, daughter and I are newly "hooked" geocachers, now
known as
WilsonExplorers3.
You're invited to help launch Geocaching in
our community. We've placed many permanent caches for you to find. A
story about geocaching, with information about this event, has been published
in local papers and on the local Cable channel..
Funding to start our geocaching program was provided by the "Healthier
Macomb Fitness Council".
Highlights of our program:
1. Geocaches placed throughout the
city highlighting historic facts, our parks, our senior center and various
city programs. All city offices/departments have become involved.
2. A
few GPS units have been purchased for a short-term loan, to local residents,
to try geocaching.
3. Local cacher contact numbers to provide support to
newbie cachers.
4. Geocaching 101 classes to be offered to area residents.
This is a RAIN or SHINE event!
Where:
We'll initially meet at the coords listed above, (Roseville Parks &
Recreation Community Center). Then
we'll meet for lunch at Dooley Park
at N42 31.089 W082 57.298 to share caching stories and some laughs.
When:
Saturday July 30th 10:00am to 5:00pm or later.
What: * 10:00am: A
"Geocaching 101" class, by Team CoyChev, presented for newbie's,
but
everyone is invited to attend.
* 11:00am: Meet and greet social.
*
11:30am: Geocache hunt; we'd like seasoned cachers to be "mentors" for the
new cachers who will attend. Meet a newbie and take them along to search for
the newly placed permanent caches. (coordinates available at the event).
This is our chance to show just how great our MiGO members are!
* 2:00pm: A
potluck lunch;
There is no electricity at this site; we'll
provide hot dogs, buns, pop, & chips.
* More fun in the works!
*
There are hundreds of caches to find in southeastern Michigan after attending this event.
* Restroom facilities at the site.
Bring:
chairs, FRS Radio (Channel 2), also something for the prize table if you
wish.
When posting your "Will Attend", please include the number of
people attending and any food item you may bring.
