Oakoasis Preserve is back open, so we went up and replaced the melted ammo can with a new one. Park hour are: M-F 7:30 - 5:00 Sat. & Sun. 7:30 - 6:00
The cache is located in the Oakoasis Open Space Preserve off of Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside. It's the 2nd. cache on the clockwise loop.
The trails are very well marked and open to dogs, horses, hikers, but no bikes. This is a 2.5 mile or so loop trail thru shady Oak groves, but you can go directly to the cache and back if you wish. There are 5 other caches on this loop that we placed today, so enjoy your walk!
We suggest that you take the Nature Trail when you get to it and bear right down thru the Oak grove. You will see where the old, restored cabin once stood and the new info.board that tells about it. Oh, and we put a cache there too! From here, you can go up the Meadows trail, or we suggest walking on around the trail, the views are great. You can see the houses in Muth Valley being rebuilt after the fire.
You might even see Splashman's boat down on the lake!
