The Goldfields Softball Complex is a gem
in this community of roughly 4000 year-round residents.
It has four regulation softball diamonds with two featuring
grass and two maintained in the more traditional "playground
style" using glacial till. During the "White Nights" of
summer, this facility is bustling with activity ranging from
weekend long and late night softball tournaments, team
practices, field dog training, and golfers working to perfect
their short game.
The
pitchers must have an additional advantage over the batters here
because of all the distracting mountain views surrounding this
facility. Stop by and enjoy a few innings during summer
weekends and enjoy the sense of small-town community that is
evident here.

The cache is a small container
with a log sheet, pencil, and several lapel pins and a ladybug as
initial trade items. It should be accessible year-round
regardless of how much snow Valdez gets and you don't need to go
inside the fence line. Please use care when retrieving and
replacing the cache to avoid making it inaccessible for the next
cacher.
Note on cache maintenance:
Daddy Ladybug travels routinely to Valdez on business, but local
cacher Dennifer has agreed to help with cache
maintenance in the event of any problems requiring immediate
attention.
