The National Trust village of Lacock has been used in numerous
films including Harry Potter, Price & Prejudice, Emma and Moll
Flanders. The architecture is mostly Tudor and can get very busy
with tourists in season. Lacock Abbey is open March to September
(NT) and famous equally for being the place where photography by
negative was invented (by Fox Talbot), and one of three copies of
the Doomsday book was kept. It is still largely complete having
avoided the ravages of Henry VIII by becoming a family home. The
Fox Talbot museum is a good museum of photography.
More details of the village are available
here.
Snacks are recommended at "The Stables Tearoom" near the posted
co-ordinates (try the toasted teacakes or cream teas - both
excellent), and meals are good quality and value from "The Red
Lion" and "The George".
There are two free car parks, either adjacent to the posted
co-ordinates or if that one is full then at: N51°24.789',
W02°07.141'.
When you get to the posted co-ordinates then look for the
information sign. Find location number 16 and write the phone
number as abcde fghijk
You will then find the physical cache at N51°25.aje',
W02°07.g(b+k)f' which is roughly a 1/3 mile walk across the
village.
