Ben Nevis Mystery Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is named after a mountain that one of us has climbed. There's a small puzzle to solve before you go and then the cache is a traditional hide. The coordinates above are for parking.
This cache is named after the mountain Ben Nevis. It's a beautiful mountain in our homeland and there are other cachers in the Southern Tier of New York that will know this mountain's fame. The name 'Nevis' comes from the word for heaven or clouds. Ben Nevis can therefore be translated 'mountain with its head in the clouds' or 'cloudy mountain'. At any time of year the "Ben" is spectacular and a view you will never forget.
This little hill is not much like Ben Nevis, except that there could be snow on the top of it a lot of the year and people practice running up this trail for training reasons.
The cache is an ammo box and is hidden along a trail. You can park at the coordinates given after you have solved the puzzle and head to where those clues take you. You may not get good GPS signal most of the way, but when you come to the mailbox you will see a clear area to get signal. This place will be obvious when you get there. The cache is not far away. Have a good hike!
