In plain
view, but invisible to most, The Rift is on Town Property
bordering a private home.
The site was part of a Trolley Park created by the
Union Street Railway Co. to encourage trolley use on weekends.
An open air trolley would bring families to the park near the
end of the line to picnic and enjoy the natural
wonder.
Here there was a picnic pavilion along with our rift to enjoy.
During the
heyday of trolley transportation there were over 1000 of these
parks in the U.S.
Some had but a picnic grove in the woods while others had
swimming, sports fields or perhaps a bandstand.
Many evolved into amusement parksmost going the way of
development with the onset of affordable automobile
transportation.
NOTE:
The RIFT is on Town Property,
however it is bordered by private property.
If you think you may be entering a private yarddont
do it.
Go to the
RIFT!!
**As with most geocaching sites,
bushwhacking is neither necessary nor appropriate.**
This cache is not night accessible and should only be done in the
day.
The real
cache is visiting the RIFT, but we placed the stash at Stage # 2
in order to avoid muggles.
The RIFT holds the coordinates for Stage #2.
The cache is of good size, full of stuff".
Long socks for any poison ivy, and bug repellant recommended.
Have fun!
