Sugarhouse Catch Basin Traditional Cache
KenFelt: Sorry to say goodbye to this cache. I had a report that this cache kept getting wet. Now, the cache is missing. I visited the site, and discovered that during a recent rainstorm, the water level must have gone ten feet over the top of the location. It is too much work to keep replacing it, so I have decided to abandon the site, and "archive" it.

This cache is in Sugarhouse Park. Easy walk from the circle drive inside the Park, but then you will enter an area that can be dangerous. Keep small children up on the grass!
Sugarhouse Park is a nice family park to go to, when you want to take your family to a cool, shady place with pavilions and playgrounds. However, this park provides another important function. If there is flooding in the valley, this park can be turned into an emergency water storage lake. This cache is close to a flood gate which can be closed, and will store water in the park, while down stream areas are protected against flooding. There are also metal fins which catch tree branches and other debris, to protect against plugging up the pipe that goes under 13th East. Bring a Frisbee and a picnic lunch, and enjoy the park. If you have any old bread, bring it for the ducks & geese in the nearby lake. The cache is a Mayonnaise jar. If you have small children, keep them up on the grass. The path down in the catch basin can be dangerous, the water is swift and cold. Watch out for muggles up on the grass. Please note: There is a small "LETTERBOX" cache about 30 feet east of this cache. If you run across it, please re-hide it, and look for mine further west. (smile) KF
