Geocache Description:

This is the place where Songsinger sings his songs. The posted coordinates take you to a parking lot light post. I used lights for this cache because Songsinger sings about Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world.

A very foggy day could make this cache impossible to complete.

Also, because of the number of noncachers in the area on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, you might want look at other times during the week.

Update #3: I wanted to change this to a regular cache (not multi) because people seem to not have time for multis anymore. The box to change the cache type is grayed out so I could not do that. Since this was my first cache placed, I did not what to deactivate and start over. So if you don't have time or patience for doing a math-rich multi, please note that the final coordinates are hidden at the original coordinates and that the final location is about 300 feet from the give away coordinates. If you like math and a puzzle it follows. Thanks!

This initial coordinates are only .60 miles from the Bamboo Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

To find the cache, find the missing coordinates from the puzzle below:

N36 S S.I N G W081 G N.O T E

N36 _ _._ _ _ W081 _ _._ _ _

Use only the light posts that can be seen from the post at the starting coordinates to solve the puzzle:

UPDATE (added 4/28/06): Since I placed the cache, a tree has been cut down revealing another light post. This post is across a sloped drive near the building. DO NOT include this post in your calculations.

UPDATE 2 (added 6/26/2007): In response to Fiddlecub's log on 6/23/2007, the Light post not to include is at 325 degrees and about 300 feet from the original cache location. New tree growth has about covered it for the summer, but it will be visible in late fall and winter. If you hate math intensive caches (like I hate shrub hunts), there is a clue hidden at the above coordinates that can take you to the final cache location.

S = The # of posts not in mulched areas minus the # of posts in mulched areas.

I = The # of posts in the mulched areas plus the # of posts in grassy areas.

N = The # of posts with 4 lights on top.

G = The # of posts with 3 lights on top.

O = The # of posts in mulched areas minus the # of posts on asphalt.

T = The # of posts in a concrete sidewalk plus the number of posts on asphalt.

E = Using the total # of post, subtract the first digit from the second digit.

FYI-There are 3 crosses on the mountain (Hartley Knob) just to the west of the starting coordinates. Songsinger loves to sing about the cross too!
