Hrad GUTSTEJN / The GUTSTEJN Castle Traditional Cache

Historians maintains the castle may have been founded by Jetrich z Gutštejna. The castle dates from around 1300 and the first written mention relates to the year 1316. Gutštejn was a nobleman´s castle with two-part disposition and a keep. The historians says it is impossible to determine precisely the character of the individual construction phases, what with the complex construction development of the castle and a lack of archeological findings. In the oldest construction phases, we may even assume the castle had an enceinte, while in the fourth phase it was probably arranged in a block disposition, with a residential tower connected with palace wings in a block surrounding a courtyard. The castle was describedas abandonedaround the 1550. What you will find on the site: outer ward with a moat and mounds, outer walls and outer bailey, a keep, remnants of a palace and other buildings, cellars.
