Portbradden on the Causeway Coast
Portbradden is a tiny, picturesque fishing village hidden under the
cliff at the end of White Park Bay. The name means 'port of the
Salmon' and the Salmon fishery still exists. The church dedicated
to St Gobban (privately owned) is said to be the smallest in
Ireland.
Portbradden is accessed from the A2 road between Bushmills and
Ballintoy villages. After parking at Portbradden follow the sign to
the Causeway Coast Path which leads on a short distance to
Dunseverick Harbour. Pass through the rock tunnel, follow the stone
steps to the wooden stile and the cache is hidden at the 'End of
the Rainbow' in the above picture.
Enjoy the views from the cache site from where I took the 'Pot of
Gold' and left a small tab lock box in its place!
From here you may also wish to walk further along the stunning
coastal path to Dunseverick Harbour, which is less than one mile
away. At Dunseverick you will easily find 'The Rock Pool' geocache
and if your really lucky, a basking seal!
