Geocache Description:

The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. This cache is part of that series created by nwogeo members to highlight cemeteries in the area. Please be respectful of the area, and observe the posted hours which are sunrise to sunset. For more information, go to www.nwogeo.org/spiritquest.

This short multi will take you to three locations in Wauseon Union Cemetery; there are a few rolling hills, but generally grass or paved roads. It was hidden for attendees of the first Midwest Geobash in 2005 to find.

Stage 1: you will find a memorial to Barney Oldfield, the fastest thing out of Northwest Ohio until Sam Hornish, Jr.! Subtract Barney's first speed record (in MPH) that he achieved in Indiana from the north coordinates given below. Subtract his second speed record, achieved in Florida, from the west coords given below.

N 41* 32.(871) W 084* 09.(446)

Stage 2: Now, onto the next stage! You will find the grave site of Nathaniel Leggett, a proprietor who helped create Wauseon. He was also the first person interred in this cemetery. Take the last two digits of the year of his death, and subtract them from both sets of coordinates below.

N 41* 32.(869) W 084* 09.(389)

Here you will find a small container. It has room for a small trade items or a geocoin, but not much more.

Hidden by BBD in order in increase the hometown caching!
