Geocache Description:

This is a rehide of a cache originally placed inside Pacific Rim National Park (a no-no!) Now located on a small islet in Cox Bay. Cache is a small tupperware with a few trading items and logbook. PLEASE REPLACE AS FOUND SO NOT VISIBLE AND HIGH WAVES WON'T CARRY AWAY.

The cache's new hiding spot is on the offshore side of a small islet that is accessible by foot at all but high tide. Lots of muggles around from the nearby resorts, so be careful and rehide well. Seems it's a popular spot for a wobbly pop, too, so practice good CITO. Watch your footing, and probably best not to do this during a wicked south-easter.

The original hide of this cache was on top of the hill at the south end of the beach about 1.4 km S, and was hidden on a warm but wet day in June 2005, when I worked up a good sweat wrapped up in my West Coast tuxedo. If you visit the Wet Coast often enough, you will eventually enjoy hot sunny weather like I did on the rehide. More often you will be pulling on the raingear for your outdoor activities. Worth it at all times, however!

While the original cache was outlawed because it was in the park, it is still highly worth the short hike and 100 m climb to the location. The 360 degree views from this hill are every bit as good as from Radar Hill and No Muggles! There is a decent trail so there is no need to bushwack. The trail starts at the end of Cox Bay beach at about N 49 05.785 W 125 52.515. The original hide was at: N 49 05.661 W 125 52.580, which is a lookout with awesome views to the west and north. Continue on up the trail to the top of the hill for easterly and southern views to Ucluelet, Long Beach and beyond.

Wear your boots for the mud, your jacket for the rain or wet bush and bring binoculars and a camera. If you make the climb, please let me know in your posting, as that was the real intention of this cache originally.
