Cnoc (pronounced "crook")
To get to the cache the easy way, please park at co-ords
N53 18.031 W009 39.731.From here you get a sample of the
views on offer. The area you will park at is called
Doirín glás, as you walk up to the cache you will walk
over large stones that the soil has erroded from,these
are called Clocha Doirín,local lore has it that when you
look up at the hill and as they say Tá clocha Doirín ag
lunrú (the rocks of Doirín are shining) that this is a
forecast of rain.
From the 12/8/05 - 14/8/05 Féile na nOileán is held in
Leitír Mór, with currach and Hooker racing on a good day
the summit is a great place to view the races.There is
sean-nós singing, dancing and Peigín Leitír Mór beauty
pagent, tug of war and various competitions for children.
From the summit you can see almost every townland in south
Connemara. The cache is just off the summit so as not to
draw too much attention to it.
