Geocache Description:

Walhalla, (originally called Stringers Creek), is an old gold mining town in Gippsland. At its peak in the 1880's, its population was around 4,500, spread across Walhalla itself and its 6 "suburbs", the hamlets of Happy Go Lucky, Mormontown, Maiden Town, Black Diamond, Homedale and West Walhalla.

This cache is hidden near where one of these suburbs used to be. The only evidence of its existence are some pine trees. (I was unable to locate these). It is supposed to be a 1.5 km very steep walk one way from Walhalla, although there is a track which starts where the main road crosses the Thompson River. It is steep and suitable for 4WD's. It may be suitable for 2WD's in the dry, but I wouldn't advise it when wet.

The Cache:

The cache is a 2 litre Sistema cliptop box hidden not too far from the road. If you can drive there, it is virtually a drive-by. If you can't, it could be an energetic walk. The terrain rating is for the walk.

Satellite reception was poor on the placement day, so feel free to use the clue.
