Hagahogget - ag#4 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Makuta Teridax: Hei, A-Gjengen!

Makuta Teridax

Geocache Description:

Top of Asker! With its 458 meter above sea level Hagahogget (aka Bergsåsen) is Askers highest point and has a marveoullous 360 degree view.

At the top you will find a nice spot with some benches around a fireplace with an excellent view over the Oslo fjord. Highly recommended!

Locals from Asker have for a long while named the top "Hagahogget". This was also the name printed on official maps at the time when this cache was established. Later Asker Turlag wanted to mark the path to the top and discovered that "Hagahogget" really is the top of the cliff SE for the highest point. The correct name for the top should be "Bergsåsen" and this is now also corrected on official maps. The "wrong" name is kept for this cache as a tribute to this story 😊

The radar domes close by were formerly a part of a NIKE air defense system that was made redundant several years ago. One of them contained a weather radar used to detect snow & rain (1988 to 2010). This function was then moved to Hurum. Check this link http://www.yr.no/radar/søraust-noreg.html for an online radar image!

There is a path leading to the top from north – should be straightforward from e.g. Vestmarksetra. From south there is a well marked path to "Bergsåsen" from the parking place for Asker shooting range at N59 50.546 E010 22.845.

The cache itself is a 1.5 liter box wrapped in a white plastic bag. It contains logbook, info-sheet, pencil, sharpener and some trading stuff.
