Geocache Description:

Here we are at last - the 1st Sheffield and Peak District Meet!

The 1st Sheffield and Peak District Meet coincides with the anniversary of my mum's birthday. This is the reason Fox House Pub was chosen as the venue as one of my Mum’s regular weekend jaunts was to walk from the east end of Sheffield to Fox House with her friends and meet my Dad there – he used to arrive on his bike with a group of his friends - it holds a lot of memories. So I would like to dedicate the 1st Sheffield and Peak District Meet to the memory of my parents, both of whom died in 2001.

THE DATE
Saturday 6 August 2005

THE TIME
14:00 - 17:00

THE PLACE
Fox House Public House on the A6187 on the outskirts of Sheffield.

The pub is child friendly and caters for vegetarians. It has a large car park, but as many of us locals know, it can get very busy during the summer months, so it may be a good idea to arrive early.

The postcode for Fox House is S11 7TY – this will help you to print out your cache pages if you fancy doing a few caches whilst in the area. I’m afraid I am not in a position to provide print outs or maps – sorry!

Just in case people want to make a weekend of it, the following link will take you to the Yorkshire Tourist Board web page for Fox House Pub (visit link) Clicking on the "What's nearby" link will navigate you to a B&B accomodation page.
The following link is for campsites around the area (visit link)

THE PLAN
The plan is - there is no plan. The purpose of the day will be for fellow geocachers to meet up, enjoy a drink and maybe a meal share a few tips and generally just chill-out and relax.

CACHES
The Devil's Fort (formerly known as Take a Wark to Visit Carl) and Never Cross A Lady will be activated before 6 August 2005 by Rebel Alliance especially for the day. Huge has kindly set up a cache nearby called Tim's Muffin Tub which is now active. Rumour has it the Legend that is known as g0wex will be activating a cache especially for the event. Thanks Huge and g0wex.

We look forward to meeting you there.
