“INDIANA SPIRIT
QUEST”
The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches
will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by
Hoosier Pioneers. In just a year and a half, the quest has grown to
over two hundred thirty caches hidden in twenty-three Indiana
counties, and two Ohio counties, and the hiders have grown to nine
cacher teams, six of which are comprised of A Man and His
Dog... One who is a man and his Cat, and one who is a Dog and
her Woman. Over 400 cacher teams have logged
over 4,700 finds. One cache machine found 102 ISQ caches in a
single day!

”See-Saw"
The SHADOW, Lamont Cranston, a man of wealth,
a student of science, and a master of other people’s minds,
devotes his life to righting wrongs, protecting the innocent, and
punishing the guilty. Using advanced methods that may ultimately
become available to all law enforcement agencies, Cranston is known
to the underworld as the SHADOW—never seen, only heard, as
haunting to superstitious minds as a ghost, as inevitable as a
guilty conscience. He is your Tour Guide:
Welcome to Teeters
Cemetery, Clear Lake Township, Steuben County.
This is a mid-sized
cemetery, still quite active. While here , I had the pleasure of
meeting the caretaker. He was a very nice
gentleman.
It seems that the care of
this site has been passed down for several generations to the
nearest resident, which all have relatives located
here.
You will notice the markers
have been well taken care of, and reset & straightened as
needed . We actually did one while I was here! The area is
immaculate! The caretaker certainly takes pride in his work of 40
years. He also opens & closes burials by hand, to reduce the
possibility of damage from heavy equipment.
The first burials here
were those of westward bound settlers in the early 1800's. The
adjacent road was a main route. This resulted in roadside burials.
The first markers were of wood and field stone, which have been
lost long ago.
As all the nearby land was
eventually owned by members of the Teeters family, the site became
known as the Teeters Cemetery, before any of the namesake were
placed here. The earliest legible marker I saw was from
1862.
Veterans from the Civil War
on, are buried here.---THE SHADOW
