Located near the intersection of Tioga Pass and 395 near Lee Vining.
We were driving back to Mammoth from Yosemite on Tioga Pass and we looked down to our right and saw a beautifully lush, green valley below with a winding stream. We thought it was so fantastic that we had to send people here. So we stopped at the Whoa Nellie Deli at the corner of Tioga Pass and Route 395, had lunch and threw together a cache, drove back and planted it. If you have never been there, this place is amazing. Chef Tioga Toomey serves gourmet fare at this Mobil station. No kidding. There is also a great general store with everything from fishing supplies to skeins of yarn to toilet paper to candy bars. It's a destination all its own.
Important: we had to shave a broken pencil down with a leatherman, so bring your own pen just in case it doesn't last long.
