This multi-cache is located at approximately at 2800' and is well away from train tracks and highway traffic. There is plenty of parking available to get out and search out this geo-cache.
The cache is in a round, clear, plastic, screw top container and contains: a log book and pencil, Canadian sticker, Bear magnet, Canadian magnet, 3 glow in the dark stars and TB - JD Trackster!
Originally planned to be a town site by Whitepass & Yukon Route Railway, "Fraser" is now the site and location for both Canada Border Services - Fraser and Yukon Government's - Highways Maintenance Camp for the BC section of the Yukon/Alaska South Klondike Highway (aka: Hwy #2).
This 'off-set' geo-cache is located within view of the original water tower that was used when Whitepass used steam trains during the famous Klondike Gold Rush of 1898.
The cache overlooks Bernard Lake, and is located between the South Klondike Highway and the Whitepass & Yukon Route.
To find this off-set cache:
1. Navigate to coordinates
2. Read the interpretive signs at this location
3. Find the 2-digit number in one of the paragraphs which states: 'Between Skaguay (sic)and Fraser, near Log Cabin, a distance of 'x' there was not a wheelbarrowful of gravel or loose earth...the line was entirely on solid rock or bridges.'
4. Using this 2-digit number, the actual cache site is located that number of feet to the southwest of the sign.
I hope you enjoy visiting Fraser and have fun learning about this amazing area!
