Geocache Description:

"The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one", he said. "The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one - but still they come. Strange lights in the sky and a mysterious object crashes on the local common. Could this be the beginning of the war of the worlds?

OK! So it's not Horsell Common and I'm not H.G. Wells but there is something strange out there for you to discover.

The "common" in this case is the site of the old Forrestfield rubbish tip (Deeeelightful I hear you say) but it's not totally without a point of interest. On your way to the cache you will pass a small experimental electricity generator that is powered by the underground gas released by the old decomposing rubbish.

Vehicle access into the old tip area is usually barred by a locked gate near the abovementioned generator, but walking in presents no problems. You can park in the carpark (S 31 58.596 / E 116 00.001) across the road (Dawson Avenue) from the main entrance to the old tip and adjoining sports field and then just walk in and follow the old tip road almost right up to the cache.

The above co-ordinates should place you in the vicinity of an obvious natural feature at the meeting of the ways. The cache is at the base of this feature.

PLEASE TAKE CARE, particularly near the cache as this area is frequented by off-road motorcyclists tearing up the dirt on their bikes.

The cache is a small, 1 litre rectangular plastic food container (orange with a purple lid).

The original cache contents include the usual cache requisites; a few assorted new goodies and some finder rewards (first six teams only).

The First-To-Find will also get a "clone" of my "Lith-ee-um The Manic Martian" travel bug who is in the cache recovering from his crash landing and ready, with your assistance, to start his planet Earth pre-invasion fact-finding tour.
