Mission Impossible II - The Raven's Quest
The Cache is NOT at
the given coordinates!
For the eyes of Impossible Mission Force
(IMF) Personnel Only
Good morning, Cacher. The picture you are
looking at is a spy satellite photo taken exactly 1 minute before
we lost contact with one of our senior operatives during a
reconnaissance mission over muggle controlled territory. The red
cross represents his position at that time.
The mission 'black box' recorder was
jettisoned by parachute just before contact was terminated and is
known to have drifted before landing. The information contained
within the recorder is highly sensitive and should it fall into the
wrong hands could spell the end of our pastime/hobby/obsession as
we know it.
The speed and heading of the plane at the
time of the photo and other details vital to the success of this
mission are known only to our local operative, codenamed "The
Raven", who has hidden this information in a container in the
vicinity. See the mission briefing
'In Search of The Raven' for details.
Intelligence indicates that operatives from
rival agencies are in the area actively searching for the flight
recorder.
Your mission, should you choose to accept,
is to ascertain the location of the crash site and discover how far
and in which direction the parachute drifted. You must retrieve the
black box before it falls into enemy hands.
This is a covert operation and stealth is
imperative as the area is crawling with muggle spies armed with
sniffer dogs.
As always, should you or any of your IM
Force be caught or killed, the secretary will disavow any knowledge
of your actions. This message will self-destruct in five
seconds.
Good luck.
The mission is intended to be
completed at the same time as the
'In Search of The Raven' multi, and should add around 3/4 mile
and up to one hour to that mission.
You will need to take with you a
map (OS Explorer sheet 121 or a good printout), a compass,
protractor, ruler, notebook/paper, pencil/pen and a way of
converting units - miles to metres. You will need to know how to
plot a bearing on a map and a good knowledge of all the features of
your GPSr may help. You may also want to bring along a picnic to
keep the rest of your Impossible Mission team amused while you work
out the final location ...
Please don't remove the clues from
the caches along the way, just make a note of them in your notebook
for later....
This mission is meant to be both a
puzzle and difficult to find, hence the rating. If you are finding
too difficult (or if you are attempting the FTF, then please feel
free to e-mail me and I may give some hints)
This is my first attempt at a more
challenging/themed cache and I have tried to get the balance right
(ie. make it hard enough to be interesting while still being fun
for all the family). If you think this is too hard/easy for its
rating (or just isn't much fun) then please let me
know...
The cache hunt will take you along
bridleways & footpaths, some of which pass through a SSSI
although none of the caches are located within it. Please stick to
the footpaths until close to each cache location and respect this
beautiful and atmospheric location.
The cache rating is based on that
