Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden on the Fairmont Ridge Hiking Trail, a trail which consists of six loops all appropriately and descriptively named, the bridges and ponds loop, highfield loop, lookoff loop, skyline loop, ravines loop and finally the back loop. There is a geocoin for the FTF. The trail head and parking are at N45 41.257 W061 54.978.

This trail is divided into 19 sections, named using letters A-S. At the time this cache was placed it was just the second hide on the Fairmont trail system (GCJCQJ The Fair Trails having been the first). This location was the end of the trail, known then as point "J" (hence the cache name), and required a 3 hour round trip hike from highway 337.

***REVISED DESCRIPTION, SUMMER 2017***

The past dozen years (maybe more like the past 4 years actually) have brought a number of significant changes to the area since the time this cache was placed, both to the trail system itself as well as the caching landscape. There are now many new caches placed along the trail (meaning there is no longer a dilemma between doing a long hike for a single find or doing a numbers run elsewhere, you can now do both at once!) Though I've generally never been a big fan of power trails, this one would be much more enjoyable than one along a road no doubt!

Additionally, there has also been a new trail constructed from Fairmont road connecting to the original trail system. This cache site is no longer the farthest point of the trail, and certainly no longer requires a 3 hour round trip. This particular hide on its own could be done as a 1 hour max round trip from the Fairmont side, or the entire trail could be done at just under 2 hours end to end if you stash a second vehicle at one end or have a ride waiting.

Good luck!
